You want to check your rails, to see if you have the 4-bolt rails or the 10-bolt rails. For your 1996 Ford F350 8 foot bed the 10-bolt rails are part # RP58058. The rails look similar but they have the mounting holes in different locations.

Converting a 6-Way connector to a 7-Way connector will be easy. A 6-Way connector already has most of the functions used by a 7-Way, the only one missing is a circuit for reverse lights. If the trailer you plan to tow does not need a reverse light circuit, you will not even need to add one.

What you will need to do is test the plugs you have found with a circuit tester like # PTW2993 if needed. If you have a fully functioning 7-Way in the bed of your 1995 Ford F-350 then you should be able to simply use a tee connector like the Curt # C56000 to tee into the US Car Connector behind the 7-Way for your gooseneck. Depending on the size of the bolt on your 1995 Ford F-250, we have a couple of options for spacers. Timbren does recommend 1/2" to 1 1/2" clearance between your Timbren and the contact point when the truck isn't under a load. The spacer is a solution if there is more than that clearance.
